CVOR Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide care for adult cardiac surgery, vascular, and thoracic patients with complex, high-acuity needs.
• Patient cases include cardiac surgeries (e.g., CABG, ECMO, heart transplant, LVAD/RVAD), thoracic procedures (e.g., lobectomy, esophagectomy, lung transplant), and vascular surgeries (e.g., EVAR, carotid endarterectomy, bypasses).
• Shift options include rotating day/evening shifts with 2x8-hour and 2x12-hour shifts or rotating 5x8-hour shifts.
• Call requirements: 2-4 weeknights and 1-2 weekends per 4-week schedule; no call shift exceeds 12 hours. Weekend call is limited to either Friday/Saturday nights or Saturday/Sunday daytime.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Michigan.
• Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience, with CVOR experience within the last year.
• One completed travel assignment.
• Scrub experience with a skill rating of 3 or 4.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Flu vaccination mandatory for 2025-26 flu season (no exemptions allowed; egg-free vaccine available for allergies).
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (specific approved mask types required).
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if past positive, clear chest X-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire required.
• Immunizations or positive titers required for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella; boosters required if titers are negative or equivocal.

Work Hours

• 40 hours per week, typically 4 shifts of 10 hours each.
• Shift times vary between 06:30-16:30 and 12:30-22:30 depending on rotation.
