Description
Job Opportunity: Speech Language Pathologist - School
Location
- Houston, Texas
Employment Type
- Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: Approximately 6 weeks (42 days)
Work Schedule
- Day shift, Monday to Friday
- 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM (7.5 hours per day)
Patient Population
- Middle and high school students
Caseload
- Collaborative caseload with 2–3 SLPs per campus
- District prioritizes manageable caseloads and balanced workloads
Required Qualifications
- Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Texas
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
Required Documentation and Compliance
- Valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
- Criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually, including multiple searches (SS trace, federal, nationwide, county, sex offender)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Texas DPS Fingerprint Result Client Attestation required prior to start; fingerprinting handled by the school district
- Educational Services - Mandatory Reporter training must be completed prior to start and updated annually
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required and must be updated annually
- State license verification and ASHA certification verification required, with re-verification 30 days prior to start
- Medical and Employee Information Release Form required
- Emergency Contact Form required
- Arbitration Agreement required and expires annually
- Proof of name change if applicable
Additional Notes
- Physical exam, TB testing, immunizations (measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella), drug testing, and flu vaccination are only required if specified by the client or state.
- Competency exams are not required unless requested by the school.
- Paraprofessionals and other educational staff have separate requirements not applicable to this SLP role.
This position offers a supportive environment with supervision for Clinical Fellows and emphasizes manageable caseloads within a school setting serving middle and high school students.
