Case Manager (Registered Nurse) - Travel/Contract

Location: Creve Coeur, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5 days/week)
Hours: 40 hours per week


Job Overview

  • Role: RN Case Manager
  • Patient Ratio: 1:18
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes (every 6th weekend on-call, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Saturday and Sunday, remote)
  • Floating: Not required
  • Block schedule: Not accommodated
  • Local candidates within 75 miles not accepted
  • First-time travelers not accepted

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Minimum 2 years of case management experience, including experience within the last year
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Acute hospital case management experience
  • Experience in discharge planning
  • Experience with facility placement including Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Rehabilitation (Rehab), Long Term Acute Care (LTAC), and Home Health settings

Certifications & Licenses

  • RN license applicable in Missouri (primary source verification required)
  • NURSYS verification required for Missouri licenses
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, certification preferred but not explicitly required
  • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, MAB, CPI, NIH Stroke, etc.) as applicable per unit descriptions (verify with recruiter)

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued ID required (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including:
    • Statewide searches (MO Highway Patrol, IL Statewide if applicable)
    • Nationwide and sex offender registry
    • International searches if lived/worked internationally in last 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks quarterly
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
  • Fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
  • State-specific exclusion and abuse registry checks as applicable
  • MO Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) results required for certain clinical areas
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels (amphetamines, opiates, cocaine, etc.) and remain valid throughout assignment
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing required and must be renewed annually (N95 respirators)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tdap (or Td if renewal)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
    • Hepatitis B declination required (not vaccination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept 30 – Apr 1)

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Must sign and annually update:
    • HIPAA Acknowledgement
    • Latex Allergy Questionnaire
    • Confidentiality Form
    • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
    • Hand Hygiene Policy
    • Fingernail Policy
    • Dress Code Policy
  • Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
  • Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
  • References: Two professional references required (supervisors preferred within last year)
  • Competency exams: Unit-specific competency exam required annually; oncology competency exam required for Med Surg-Oncology unit
  • Orientation modules through online platform required for all RNs (approx. 16 hours), except returning candidates who completed modules in current calendar year

Work Schedule & On-Call

  • 40 hours guaranteed per week
  • On-call every 6th weekend remotely (Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)

Summary

This is a travel contract RN Case Manager position requiring at least 2 years of acute care case management experience, a Missouri RN license, and BSN degree. The role involves coordinating patient discharges and post-acute care planning with a patient ratio of 1:18. Weekend on-call coverage every 6th weekend is required remotely.
