Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Neuro PCU

Location

Roanoke, Virginia

Contract Length

13 weeks

Schedule

3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
Weekend requirement: Either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week block
Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks

Unit Details

Patient population: Adult neurological patients, including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow
Includes 5 beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4–5 (travelers must be comfortable with a 1:5 ratio)
Floating required within clinical skillset

Required Qualifications

Licenses & Certifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
BLS issued by American Heart Association
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Education

Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Experience

Minimum 1 year of Neuro PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Clinical Skills

Cardiac monitoring and emergency response (dysrhythmia interpretation/management, Rapid Response/Code teams)
