Infusion Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
Work Setting: Infusion Center, Outpatient Oncology
Preferred Experience: Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), Inpatient Oncology
Job Description
- Clinical Nurse Coordinator role focused on outpatient oncology infusion services.
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
- Must have flu vaccination (or approved exemption) for the flu season (Sept-Mar).
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia.
- Minimum of 1 year of infusion experience, with infusion experience within the last year.
- Experience in oncology nursing.
- Experience working in an outpatient setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Chemotherapy certification from ONS or ONCC.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Phlebotomy skills.
- Competency in administration of IV push narcotic agents.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Complete I-9 and E-Verify attestations prior to start.
- Criminal background check within 90 days, including multi-state and federal searches.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to and during assignment.
- Education verification of highest degree required by position.
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required.
- Immunization documentation required for:
- Flu vaccine (or approved exemption)
- Tdap within 10 years (preferred)
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed).
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams with minimum passing scores required within 3 years of start.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for RNs in telemetry and critical care specialties (not specifically required here but may be relevant if floated to such units).
Additional Requirements
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.
- Skills checklist must be completed prior to start and updated annually.
- Clear photo for badge with specific photo requirements (face centered, no glare, solid background).
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date.
Work Environment and Schedule
- 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each, daytime hours.
- Every other weekend coverage required.
- Outpatient oncology infusion center primarily, with possible float to other oncology or related units.
This position is ideal for an experienced oncology infusion RN with prior travel experience, strong chemotherapy and biotherapy skills, and the ability to work independently in an outpatient setting.
