Operating Room Registered Nurse Travel Job - Texas, Abilene
Position Details
- Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse
- Location: Abilene, Texas
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 5x8 hour shifts (6:30 AM - 3:00 PM)
- Hours per Week: 40 hours
- Call and late days required as needed
Specialty & Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Operating Room
- Required Experience: Must have experience in Neuro/Spine, Orthopedics/Trauma, General/Robotics/Trauma surgeries
- Specific Skills Required: Craniotomy and burr hole experience is mandatory
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum of 1 year of OR Circulate experience, with recent OR Circulate experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- Immunizations/Vaccinations:
- TDAP within 10 years
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; non-immune candidates must receive boosters
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted; boosters if titer low/equivocal
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if non-immune
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); religious or medical exemptions accepted
- Tuberculosis Screening: Negative TB test or chest X-ray required; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed
- Fit Mask Test: Required annually; must use 3M 1860 Regular or 1860S mask (onsite option available)
Additional Requirements
- References: Two references within 3 years of start date
- Employment Application: Resume or application copy required
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually
- Facility-Specific Documents: Multiple acknowledgments and forms must be reviewed and signed prior to start, including vaccination, TB and occupational exposure, patient-centered pledge, confidentiality, compliance, and background check authorizations
- Orientation: Completion of orientation modules (~3-4 hours) required; parking provided at no cost

- Operating room setting with focus on neuro/spine, orthopedic trauma, general surgery, robotics, and trauma cases
- 5-day workweek with potential call and late shifts as needed
