Registered Nurse – PCU/Telemetry
Location: Dededo, Guam

Job Overview
- Position is for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Telemetry Registered Nurse.
- The unit is technically a telemetry unit but the level of care is PCU.
- Patient ratios typically 1:4-5.
- Care includes routine, uncomplicated cardiac procedures and nonurgent percutaneous coronary interventions with complications.
- May float within scope to Med-Surg and Emergency Department Tele overflow as needed; no ICU care outside scope.
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend, flexible to support facility needs.
- Holidays are required; specific dates determined by unit needs, no holiday work preferences allowed.
- Shift: Primarily one shift (day or night), no shift preference requests; 4x12 hour shifts (day: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, night: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM).
- Overtime is at management discretion and not guaranteed.
- Travelers must be prepared to pick up additional shifts due to census fluctuations.
- Local candidates residing in Guam will not be considered.
- Passport in hand is required for this position.
- Flights are not reimbursed; travelers should plan accordingly.
- Travelers should arrive by the Thursday before the start date due to long travel times and time zone differences.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; 3-5 years preferred.
- Travel Experience: First-time travelers are NOT accepted.
- Licensure: Must have Compact or Guam RN license in hand at time of application; pending licenses are not accepted.
- Certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association provider card, digital certificate required)
- BLS (American Heart Association provider card, digital certificate required)
- Must complete facility-specific trainings and certifications prior to or during orientation (see Facility Specific Requirements).
- Must pass onsite drug calculation and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) exams during orientation (80% passing score, two attempts allowed).
- Must be willing to float within scope to other units as needed.
Facility Specific Requirements & Training
- Completion of nursing modules (~8-12 hours) including:
- Pressure Injury Training
- NIH Stroke Scale Training (NIHSS)
- Alaris IV Pumps
- Pyxis CareFusion
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., Conscious Sedation for ER, ICU, Cath Lab).
- Fit testing for N95 masks required within 1 year prior to start; facility has limited PAPR availability.
- Drug calculations and BKAT exams administered onsite during orientation.
- Facility requires completion of a 7-year background check including criminal and international searches if applicable.
- Physical exam not required by facility but must be collected per agency policy.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year prior to start; annual TB questionnaire if past positive.
- Immunization requirements:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Proof of immunity or vaccination required.
- Hepatitis B: Immune titer or full vaccine series required.
- Varicella: Positive titer or proof of vaccination required.
- Flu vaccine mandatory during flu season (Sept 1 – June 30); medical exemptions considered with facility-specific form.
- COVID-19 vaccination strongly preferred; declinations require facility-specific waiver.
- Drug screen: 9-panel instant drug screen within 30 days of start; not required annually but must be current.
- Must provide 2 professional references from travel, allied, or per diem acute care within last 3 years.
- Work history verification for last 10 years required.
Scheduling & Time Off
- Contracted hours guaranteed; client may cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week assignment.
- Request time off (RTO) must be approved and included in contract prior to start.
- Maximum RTO allowed: 3 consecutive days per 2 weeks, up to 7 total days during contract.
- No on-call requirement.
Additional Notes
- Charting system used: Allscripts/Sunrise.
- Parking is free for travelers with registration and decal.
- Scrub color: Navy blue preferred; any solid color acceptable for most areas.
- Facility is an Adult Trauma Level II acute care hospital with 132 staffed beds.
- Travelers must be flexible and prepared for unit needs and census changes.
This position is ideal for experienced PCU/Telemetry RNs with prior travel contract experience who are ready to work in a dynamic acute care environment in Guam.
