Registered Nurse – IMC (Intermediate Care)
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Intermediate Care (IMC) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Patient Census: 24 staffed beds, average daily census 24
- Charting system: Epic
- Floating: Floating within scope to meet facility needs required, including to sister facilities
- Block scheduling: Not accommodated
- Local candidates: Not accepted (must live more than 75 miles from facility)
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 5 days allowed
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Telemetry experience required
- At least 1 year of total travel nursing experience
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross, current
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross, current
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, current
- EKG course or telemetry test, current
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background & Verification
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education verification with transcript/diploma matching highest degree
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen including marijuana (required within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
- Physical exam: Statement of good health within 1 year, signed by Physician, PA, NP, or APRN
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap mandatory for certain units)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B: Completed series, positive titer, or declination (annual)
- Varicella: 2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox
- Flu vaccine required annually (with agency-approved medical or religious exemption)
- COVID vaccination strongly preferred; declinations accepted with agency form
Competencies & Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (annual, 100% passing score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (annual, 90% passing score)
- Unit-specific competency exam (annual, 80% passing score)
- Core Parts I, II, and III competency exams covering safety, ethics, patient rights, and more (annual, 80% passing score)
- Conscious Sedation competency exam if applicable (annual, 80% passing score)
- Color Blind Testing within 60 days prior to start (passing score 64% or higher)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Patient Care Orientation Class (Skills) mandatory
- EPIC training required if no EPIC experience within last 6 months
- N95 Mask Fit Testing completed onsite prior to or on first day
- Vehicle information documentation required before clearance
- Completion of facility policy acknowledgments including:
- Health Code of Ethical Business Conduct
- Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy
- Information Access Agreement
- Oklahoma Offender Registration Act
- Oklahoma Responsibilities and Rights (updated every 2 years)
- Fingerprinting and state screening clearance required prior to start
References & Work History
- Two references from former direct supervisors required (one within 1 year, one within 3 years)
- Employment history covering last 10 years verified, including international positions and explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Updated resume including last 7 years of employment with explanations for gaps
Additional Notes
- Driver’s license and utility bill in candidate’s name with matching address required; address must be more than 75 miles from contracted facility
- Prior travel experience is mandatory; first-time travelers are not accepted
- No pending state licenses accepted
- Must comply with all background checks, health screenings, and competency requirements before start date
