Description

Travel Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit

Location: Dayton, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit & Patient Population

  • 36-bed Step Down unit specializing in pre- and post-op open heart management including CABG, valve, mitral clip, TAVR, thoracotomy, and advanced cardiac care with continuous telemetry.
  • Also manages lung cases such as pneumothorax, hemothorax, chest tubes, and zephyr valve patients.
  • Targeted patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6.
  • Navy blue scrubs required.

Schedule

  • Night shift: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM).
  • Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays.

Important Notes

  • Overtime for shifts over 48 hours is billed at 48 hours.
  • The employer reserves the right to cancel shifts or contracts with notice and without penalty.
  • Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives.
  • Requesting Return to Office (RTO) must be done with initial submittal; no RTO requests accepted after offer.

This position is ideal for a cardiac step-down nurse with solid SD/PCU experience, strong cardiac skills, and EPIC proficiency seeking a travel contract in Ohio.


Required Experience & Skills

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1.5 years of cardiac Step Down experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Experience with CABG and valve post-op patients
  • Experience with cardiac drip titration
  • Experience working with Epic electronic health record system
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
