Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Belleville, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 3 days per week (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
- Unit: High risk cardiac telemetry unit
- Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: May float within scope to all inpatient units at both campuses
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (local radius rule: 75 miles)
- On-call: Not required
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with cardiac drip management
- Experience with sheath pulls
- Experience with central line management
Facility & Work Environment
- Type: Acute Care Magnet Hospital
- Unit Beds: 40 staffed beds on unit; 222 beds in facility
- Charting System: EPIC
- Scrub Color: Navy
- Parking: Free
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start
- Fit Mask: Annual fit testing required; must be able to pass N95 respirator fit test
- Immunizations & Testing:
- Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Drug screening within 1 year of start, including specific drug panels
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept-April)
- Fingerprinting: Required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
Compliance & Documentation
- Mandatory Documents Prior to Start:
- Government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
- Employment application
- Two professional references (supervisors preferred within last year)
- Skills checklist specific to unit (including oncology if applicable)
- HIPAA Acknowledgement, Confidentiality Form, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Hand Hygiene Policy, Fingernail Policy, Dress Code Policy
- Regulatory Compliance Education completed annually via online training
- Background checks and state-specific exclusion lists updated and verified quarterly
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Additional Facility Requirements:
- Annual review and signing of policies and questionnaires (e.g., TB, HIPAA)
- Completion of orientation modules (approximately 16 hours) through online platform unless completed in current calendar year
Additional Notes
- First-time travel nurses are accepted for this assignment
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 7 days off between shifts
- No block scheduling accommodations available
