Description
Radiologic Technologist (X-ray) - West Virginia
Location
- City: Weirton, West Virginia
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- 10-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
- Shift options: Evening and Night
- Shift pattern: 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on (8-hour shifts)
- Day shifts: Various start times between 6:00 AM and 9:30 AM
- Afternoon shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- Midnight shift: 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM
- Every other weekend required (EOW)
- May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
- Overnight shifts may require being the only technologist on site
Department & Equipment
- 4 imaging rooms: 3 general X-ray, 1 fluoroscopy, 2 portable units, 3 C-Arms
- Equipment brands: GE AMX portables with DR-Konica, Del Medical, Siemens, Philips, OEC C-Arms
- PACS: Intellirad/Intelliconnect
- EMR system: Community Works
- Staffing: 6-7 techs on day shift, 3-4 on evening, 1 on midnight
- Radiologist coverage: In-house until 5 PM, on-call overnight; teleradiology covers 2 AM – 6 AM
Job Duties & Skills
- Perform general X-ray studies, portable X-rays, fluoroscopy cases (orthopedic and GI), and OR imaging (cystoscopy, ortho, GI)
- Float between general X-ray, fluoroscopy, and operating room as needed
- Average volume: approximately 110 studies per day
- Must be able to function competently in all areas including general X-ray, portables, OR, and fluoroscopy
- No IV starts required
Orientation & Training
- Department-specific orientation: 5 shifts with a preceptor
- Orientation schedule includes four 10-hour shifts, steady afternoon and midnight shifts, and every other weekend midnight coverage
Dress Code
- Scrubs may be any clean, professional color
- Permanent staff wear emerald green scrubs; travelers may match but not required
Required Certifications & Licenses
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
- West Virginia X-ray license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Must complete West Virginia CARES prior to start
- Must provide a copy of an unexpired driver’s license with submission
- Licensing issues must be disclosed at time of submission
Additional Notes
- First-time travel technologists are accepted
- No Registered Radiology Assistants (RRA) on staff
- No call or standby requirements
