Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule & Shift Details

  • Four 10-hour day shifts per week (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM) with a rotating day off
  • On-call one night per week (5:30 PM – 7:00 AM) and one weekend per month (Friday 5:30 PM – Monday 7:00 AM)
  • Call-back radius: 30 minutes

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Tennessee (must be active and not expire within 45 days of assignment start)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Color Blind Testing (Ishihara test or equivalent within 12 months)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience in Interventional Radiology (IVR), specifically Neuro IVR
  • Proficient in Conscious Sedation, Ventilator management, and Medication Titration
  • Documentation experience with Cerner electronic health record system
  • Float pool experience required

Required Competencies & Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
  • Competency Exam (general)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (minimum 80% score within 12 months)
  • Core Competency Exams Part I, II, and III (minimum 80% pass rate, updated annually)

Health & Background Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, confirming fitness for duty
  • Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year; chest x-ray if prior positive
  • TB Questionnaire
  • Drug screening within 45 days of start (includes a comprehensive panel with MRO signature)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations or titers required:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B series or declination
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine required for starts on/after 9/8/2025 (no declinations accepted; exemptions require documentation)
  • Photo for badge (passport style, solid background, no filters or facial piercings)

Documentation & Compliance

  • Background check completed within 45 days of start, covering 7 years of history including alias verification
  • State license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
  • Utility bill or lease/mortgage statement in candidate’s name with address at least 75 miles from contracted facility
  • Employment application with 7-year work history, no unexplained gaps over 30 days, and active nursing license details
  • Two supervisory references from employers within the last 3 years
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated within the last year

Additional Notes

  • Travelers requesting time off during holidays or holiday weeks will not be accommodated (specific holiday dates apply)
  • Actual certification documents must be uploaded (screenshots or photos are not accepted)
  • Renewal of certifications must be uploaded 5 days prior to expiration
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification preferred but not required
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred for ER but not required

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum of 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience, with experience within the last year
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Current PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Color Blind Testing (Ishihara test or equivalent within 12 months)
