Job Opportunity: Pediatric Dialysis Nurse
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Pediatric Dialysis)
- Unit: Dialysis
- Shift: Day shift, typically three 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), Monday through Saturday
- Hours per week: Approximately 36 hours
- Start Date: ASAP
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of dialysis experience, with dialysis experience within the last year
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association or PEARS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Missouri
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only (HeartCode accepted; RQI not accepted)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only (HeartCode or PEARS accepted; RQI not accepted)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only (required unless otherwise noted)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – as required (AHA 8th Edition Advanced Certification)
- State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification required
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) must be carried during hours of service
- Background check within 3 months of start, including county-level and statewide searches for Missouri and Kansas
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 6 months
- Missouri Highway Patrol Check required
- E-Verify or attestation proof required
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (initial and annual)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start
- Immunizations or proof of immunity/vaccination for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (3 vaccines, titer, or declination)
- Varicella
- TB testing: Two PPDs or equivalent (Qgold/T-Spot) within required timeframes; chest x-ray if indicated
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
Testing and Competency Requirements
- Pediatric medication calculation/dosage test during orientation (100% passing required; three attempts allowed)
- Pediatric pharmacology competency exam
- Pediatric competency exam relevant to specialty
- Color blindness testing (required for clinical staff)
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing policies
Additional Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific health forms and questionnaires prior to start
- Facility-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgement
- References: Two supervisory references or performance evaluations verified within 1 year of start
- Employment application and pediatric skills checklist as applicable
- Respiratory safety clearance questionnaire (RespSafety) as applicable
Schedule Notes
- Shifts may vary between three 12-hour shifts or a combination of two 12-hour shifts and two 6-hour shifts, Monday through Saturday
This position is ideal for experienced pediatric dialysis nurses with prior travel experience seeking a travel contract in Missouri.
