Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (OR)
- Patient Ratio: 9 rooms
- No floating between units required
- On-call requirement: 2 night calls and 3 weekend calls per month
- Night calls during the week: 11 PM – 7 AM
- Weekend calls shifts: 7 AM – 3 PM, 3 PM – 11 PM, or 11 PM – 7 AM
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
- Trauma Level 1, Teaching Hospital setting
- Total staffed beds: 228
- Scrub color provided
- Charting system: SIS
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia
- Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
- Minimum years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard RN experience for OR travel assignments (typically 1+ years OR experience recommended)

Compliance & Background Checks
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service

- FACIS Level 3 check
- Education verification through primary source
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually (facility-specific form required)
- Fit mask testing within 1 year, updated annually (3M 1860, 1870+, Aura 9502 masks accepted)
- Immunizations and titers required (or approved declinations where noted):
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declination form accepted)
- Measles (Rubeola) – titer or 2 vaccines, no declinations allowed
- Mumps – titer or 2 vaccines, no declinations allowed
- Rubella – titer or 2 vaccines, no declinations allowed
- Varicella – titer or 2 vaccines, declinations accepted only for medical/religious reasons
- Hepatitis B – titer, vaccine series, or declination form required
- Influenza vaccine required during flu season (9/16–4/30), with medical/religious exemptions accepted subject to approval
- COVID-19 vaccination required prior to start; booster preferred but not required; medical/religious exemptions subject to approval
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Additional health screenings as applicable (CBC, eye exam, color blindness exam) depending on unit assignment
