Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry (Night Shift)

Shift: Night, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Job Description

• Work on a Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit caring for neurology/stroke patients.
• Patient ratio is 1:7.
• Schedule includes nights, weekdays, every other weekend, float, and holidays.
• Overtime available after 48 hours.
• Must be proficient in EPIC electronic health record system (no exceptions).
• Required skills: IV starts, telemetry interpretation, experience with neurology/stroke patients.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
• Minimum 2 years of total travel nursing experience
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience caring for neurology and stroke patients
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Zero tolerance for any license or background hits.
• 7-year criminal background check required within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and for every contract renewal.
• Fingerprinting required (Virginia VSP National Criminal Background Check) effective 1/1/2026.
• Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service.
• E-Verify required for direct placements.
• Proof of 2 professional references required.
• Complete employment application/resume and unit-specific skills checklist (updated annually).

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start, updated annually.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
• Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year of start (facility does not allow PAPR).
• Immunizations and titers required within 10 years or appropriate declinations accepted where noted:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for certain units, no exemptions accepted)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year of start; annual TB testing required.
• Seasonal flu vaccination required annually by October 31, or approved medical/religious exemption with mask requirement.
• COVID-19 vaccine preferred but not required; documentation collected if available.

Documentation & Onboarding

• Passport-style photo required before start (shoulders up, front facing, plain background).
• Completion of facility-specific documents including job description, Pyxis acknowledgment, and others as applicable.
• Must complete facility’s COVID-19 and flu exemption forms if applicable.
• Must complete facility’s fingerprinting process promptly to avoid delays.

• Candidates must be pre-closed on patient ratio (1:7) before submission.
• Candidates must indicate shift preference (3x12 or 4x12).
• Facility requires acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing.
