Description
X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology) - Travel/Contract
Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Shift: Evening (2nd shift)
Hours: 40 hours/week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM; every other Saturday and Sunday 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description
- General Radiography Technologist functioning independently in Emergency Department and inpatient portable imaging for both pediatric and adult populations.
- Equipment used includes Fuji Emergency Room units, Carestream portable units for ER and inpatient portable imaging.
- Daily caseload varies depending on Emergency Room and portable inpatient volume.
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
- No on-call required.
- Open to accommodating block schedules.
- Guaranteed hours.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technician license in Connecticut (pending state license accepted but must be active prior to start).
- Minimum 2 years of Radiology Technician experience, including experience within the last year.
- Active ARRT certification.
- Demonstrated X-Ray Technician experience.
- Must have photo ID matching legal name for identity verification on first day.
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only (not required for Pediatric Stepdown).
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start, including SSN trace, counties lived/worked, statewide, national sex offender, national criminal, federal extended, and education verification.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation and diploma required for internationally educated candidates.
- Verification of highest level of education required.
- Sex offender search required.
- Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps greater than 90 days.
- Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted).
- Skills checklist required within 12 months of start.
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for new candidates.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually; clean-shaven required for fit testing.
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (rapid accepted).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required (various acceptable tests).
- TB questionnaire required annually.
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; boosters required if titers low.
- Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history; boosters required if low titer.
- Hepatitis B: positive titer, proof of 3-dose vaccine series, or declination within 1 year of start.
- Tdap vaccination highly preferred for pediatric specialties, labor and delivery, postpartum (declination accepted).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 1 - Mar 31).
- COVID vaccination series preferred but not required.

- Charting system: Epic.
- Parking cost: $125/month.
- Facility type: Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center, 1,567 staffed beds.
- Scrub color: Teal.

- CAUTI Education Training (for RNs except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health).
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training (for RNs and Allied).
- Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (for RNs except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU).
- Stroke Education (for RNs except pediatric specialties and NICU).
- CLABSI Prevention for Adult and Pediatric Training (for RNs).
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training (for RNs).
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education (for RNs).
- Pyxis ES MedStation Modules (for RNs).
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training (for RNs).
- Patient Bedside Rounding Module (for RNs and CNAs except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED).
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (for RNs).
- AME Blood Administration Module (for RNs except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health; annual update required).
- New Employee Orientation Module (must be completed by start date).
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for X-ray Tech and other specified roles).
- Chaperone Policy Training (for RNs and Allied; required if gap of 6+ months between assignments or module updated).
Additional Notes
- No floating to sister facilities required.
- RTO (Return to Office) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval.
- First-time travelers accepted.
- One supervisor reference within the past year required for Cardio Thoracic ICU/CTICU assignments; charge nurse references not accepted. For other units, standard reference requirements apply.
