Job Opportunity: Radiology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Paramus, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (12:00 PM – 10:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40


Job Description

  • Position is within the Radiology Department, primarily working in CT and MRI units.
  • Local candidates defined as within 75 miles of the facility.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Minimum of 1 year of radiology experience, with radiology experience within the last year required.
  • Certifications required:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background check covering 7 years, including national sex offender, criminal, OIG sanction, and other federal/state checks. Must be completed within 6 months of start.
  • Education verification of highest degree (Bachelor’s degree in Nursing minimum). Diploma may be used temporarily if verification is pending.
  • State license verification must be run within 30 days prior to start; no temporary or emergency licenses accepted without approval.
  • Physical exam or statement of health within 12 months, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP, confirming fitness for duty.
  • Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no rapid tests accepted).
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) required within 1 year of start.
  • Immunizations and titers required within 72 hours of contract signing:
    • COVID-19: Completed initial series plus booster, no exemptions allowed.
    • Flu vaccine: Mandatory for the season, no religious or medical declinations accepted.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer required.
    • Varicella: Proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer required.
    • Hepatitis B: Surface antibody titer or declination required.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Preferred but not required; declinations accepted.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months.

Competency and Testing Requirements

  • Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) must be completed annually with a passing score of 80% or higher. Topics include patient safety, HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, ethics, and more.
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required annually with an 80% passing score.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required annually with an 80% passing score for all RNs except those in excluded units (e.g., Home Health, Hospice).
  • Pass/fail Telemetry competency testing onsite; one attempt allowed. Failure results in contract cancellation.
  • Completion of a Relias exam "Foundations of ECG Interpretation" required to prepare for onsite ECG pass/fail test (not required for certain excluded units).
  • Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required.

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required:
    • One supervisory reference from within 12 months of start.
    • One professional reference from within 3 years of start (not necessarily supervisory).
  • Current and updated resume covering last 7 years of employment, with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required.
  • Employment verification for 7 years required and must be completed at least 2 Fridays prior to start date; no pending verifications allowed at start.
  • Completion of facility-specific self-learning module and post-test with 100% score prior to start.
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required.
  • ID badge information must be provided during orientation.

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract RN position in Radiology (CT and MRI) in New Jersey, requiring a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, NJ or compact RN license, and certifications including ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
