X-Ray Tech Travel/Contract Position
Location: New London, Connecticut
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: Day shift, 5 days a week (5x8), approximately 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Work Hours: 40 hours per week
- Patient Types: Inpatient, Outpatient, Emergency Room
- Facility Type: Short-term acute care, Level III trauma center
- Charting System: EPIC
- Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend, rotating holidays, on-call as needed
- Parking: Free
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technician license in Connecticut (can apply with pending license)
- Minimum 1 year of Radiology Technician experience within the last year
- ARRT-R certification required
- BLS certification required
- X-Ray Technician experience
Compliance & Background Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification including foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
- Verification of last 7 years of employment with no gaps greater than 90 days
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for new candidates in relevant units
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (AHA or ARC) may be required depending on unit
- BLS (AHA or ARC) mandatory
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., TNCC for ER)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months, minimum 85% passing score
- Color Blind Testing required (effective 8/2/2024), minimum 80% passing score
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for RNs in telemetry and ICU units (not applicable for X-Ray Tech)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (clean shaven required for fit testing)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Tdap highly preferred for certain specialties (not mandatory for this role)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, vaccine series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccination series preferred but not mandatory
Facility-Specific Training & Documentation
- Must review and sign facility-specific attestations prior to start
- Various mandatory training modules and attestations (e.g., Stroke Education, CLABSI Prevention, Preventing Pressure Injury, Patient Transportation with Oxygen, Pyxis ES MedStation, Baxter Pump Interoperability) may be required depending on unit and role
- Language Services Training, CAUTI Education Training, Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training required for RNs (not applicable for X-Ray Tech)
- New Employee Orientation module must be completed by start date
Additional Notes
- Return to Office (RTO) time off not to exceed 7 days; any additional time off must be made up
- Candidate must apply for Connecticut state license within 72 hours of qualification
- Background check hits and license issues require facility approval before start
This position offers an opportunity to work in a Level III trauma center with a diverse patient population and a supportive environment using EPIC for charting. Candidates must meet strict compliance, certification, and health requirements to ensure patient and staff safety.
