Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit.
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam; passing scores required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Telemetry nursing experience.
• Telemetry experience within the last year.
• Current certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NIHSS Stroke Certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
• Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually. PAPRs not provided for facial hair failure unless approved exemption.
• Immunizations and documentation required:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray if past positive
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Hepatitis B – titer, series, or declination accepted with agency-approved exemptions
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions must be approved)
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.

Background and Compliance

• Background check required prior to start, including FCRA-compliant 7-year search and education verification.
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months, updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
• Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprint attestation required.
• References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).

Documentation and Onboarding

• Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history, including 2 years clinical acute care in a similar specialty.
• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
• Photo for badge (headshot, shoulders up, white background) required.
• Resume/CV required with detailed work history (10 years for certain tech assistant roles, not applicable here).
• Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing and orientation safety manual required.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules and documentation prior to clearance to start.
• Candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts at this facility may be exempt from some orientation requirements.
• Candidates must be legally named consistently across all documents.
• Candidates must be able to work every other holiday.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, who are comfortable with travel assignments and meet the certification and compliance requirements listed above.
