Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- 4x10 hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Monday through Friday
- No call, no weekends, no holidays
- Occasional late shifts may be required
- Float within the service line
Job Description
- Work in pre-op and post-op areas of a busy GI lab (prep/recovery space)
- Ideal candidates have PACU and ED nursing experience
- Some GI knowledge preferred to provide patient education
- Procedure monitoring experience is required
- Average daily census: 60 patients
- Responsibilities include starting IVs and recovering patients from monitored anesthesia care sedation
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of endoscopy experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Procedure monitoring experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system

- Experience in outpatient endoscopy centers
- Experience with pre- and post-procedure care

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks must be run quarterly
- Fingerprinting required for assignments in Illinois long-term care or rehab units (not required for Missouri)
- State-specific searches and registries as applicable
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- Other certifications as applicable by unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) but not required for this role
- IV Certification (if applicable for LPN/LVN, not required for RN)
Health Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (N95) required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include standard drug panels and be current throughout assignment
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept 30 – Apr 1)
Facility-Specific Documents
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- HIPAA Acknowledgement, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Confidentiality Form, Hand Hygiene Policy, Fingernail Policy, Dress Code Policy – all must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Regulatory Compliance Education quiz completed annually
- Orientation modules required for all RNs, approximately 16 hours, completed through online platform
Other Requirements
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
- Employment application must be submitted and uploaded
- Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG exams required and must be updated annually
Additional Notes
- Parking is available with monthly passes at various locations; fees apply except for straight night shifts
- No reimbursement for parking fees
- Candidates must adhere to all facility policies and complete all required documentation and training prior to start
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with GI, PACU, or ED backgrounds who are comfortable in a fast-paced endoscopy environment and meet all licensing and certification requirements.
