Description

Medical Surgical Oncology Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Specialty: Oncology Nursing (Registered Nurse)
  • Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (1900-0730)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 3-4 patients
  • Unit Type: Outpatient department with 8 treatment chairs and 7 private isolation rooms
  • Unit operates 24/7, providing chemotherapy, biotherapy, blood transfusions, injections, IV fluids, electrolyte replacement, EKGs, phlebotomy, and blood glucose monitoring
  • Patients include hematologic malignancy, medical oncology, and gynecologic oncology cases
  • Care includes managing patients receiving chemotherapy, antibiotics, fluids, and blood products
  • Nurses may hold patients overnight awaiting inpatient beds and assist with evaluations
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
  • Weekend shifts: Minimum 4 weekend shifts per contract, may vary based on need
  • Locals not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from facility
  • Pending license accepted
  • No on-call required
  • Block scheduling not accommodated
  • Guaranteed hours

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Hematology/Oncology nursing experience of at least 1 year, with experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) or Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
