Description

Medical Surgical Oncology Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

Specialty: Oncology Nursing (Registered Nurse)
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (1900-0730)
Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 3-4 patients
Unit Type: Outpatient department with 8 treatment chairs and 7 private isolation rooms
Unit operates 24/7, providing chemotherapy, biotherapy, blood transfusions, injections, IV fluids, electrolyte replacement, EKGs, phlebotomy, and blood glucose monitoring
Patients include hematologic malignancy, medical oncology, and gynecologic oncology cases
Care includes managing patients receiving chemotherapy, antibiotics, fluids, and blood products
Nurses may hold patients overnight awaiting inpatient beds and assist with evaluations
Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
Weekend shifts: Minimum 4 weekend shifts per contract, may vary based on need
Locals not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from facility
Pending license accepted
No on-call required
Block scheduling not accommodated
Guaranteed hours

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Missouri
Hematology/Oncology nursing experience of at least 1 year, with experience within the last year
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) or Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
