Operating Room Registered Nurse - Pennsylvania, York

Position Overview

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Neuro Operating Room)
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Location: York, Pennsylvania
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Day shift, either 4x10 hours (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM) or 3x12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • Hours per week: 40
  • Call Requirements:
    • 1-2 calls per week (Monday-Thursday), starting after shift until 7:00 AM next morning
    • 30-minute callback response time
    • 2 weekend call shifts every 6 weeks (call starts end of shift Friday through Monday 7:00 AM)
    • No scheduled weekend shifts, only call
    • Holidays: call only, as needed by department

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
  • Minimum 2 years of OR Circulate experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in neurology, trauma, and orthopedics
  • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Certifications & Licenses

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
  • Other certifications (e.g., TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification) may be required as applicable

Screening & Interview Process

  • Clinical pre-screen to determine fit
  • Manager interview required for final decision

Facility & Work Environment

  • Tobacco and fragrance-free facility
  • May care for COVID-19 patients
  • No blocked scheduling allowed
  • Floating not applicable

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and Pennsylvania-specific checks (PATCH, Child Abuse Search, FBI Fingerprinting)
  • Fingerprinting must be completed in Pennsylvania; results required within 45 days of assignment start
  • Education verification of highest degree required
  • Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 1 year (for agency use only)
  • Physical exam required within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT
  • Immunizations and health documents required with identifiers (Name, DOB, SSN):
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or full vaccine series)
    • TDAP within 10 years
    • Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days; chest x-ray if positive
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: vaccines or positive titers required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
    • Flu vaccine or valid medical/religious exemption required during flu season
    • COVID-19 vaccine or exemption/declination accepted
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually
  • Professional references: 2 within last 3 years
  • Skills checklist required annually
  • Photo for badge: passport-style, clear, professional
  • Completion of facility-specific documents including code of conduct, confidentiality agreement, and health & wellness commitment
  • Completion of Learning Management System (LMS) modules on PC/laptop prior to start
  • New hire orientation required by end of first day

Response Time & Start

  • Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days
