Description
Job Opportunity: CT Tech
Location: Denmark, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Perform CT scans and radiographic exams, producing computerized tomographic images of designated anatomical areas.
- Obtain patient history, explain routine procedures, and address patient concerns.
- Work schedule: Thursday through Saturday, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (6:30 PM to 7:00 AM).
- Participate in on-call rotation; weekend work may be required if shifts are unfilled during on-call periods.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CT Technologist license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of CT Technologist experience within the last year
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography and CT (ARRT (R) (CT))
- Licensed by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) in Radiography and CT (SCRQSA (R) (CT))
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience as a Radiology Technologist
Certifications & Training
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required for adult critical care units and certain specialty areas.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required for pediatric units except Pediatric OR.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) as applicable.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) not required for ER RNs.
- NIH Stroke Certification required for Emergency Room.
- IV Therapy certification required for select LPNs if applicable.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams required.
- Annual respirator medical clearance required for patient-facing staff.
- Facility-specific safety and HIPAA attestations required.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet job demands.
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and annual TB questionnaire required.
- Proof of immunizations or positive titers for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required.
- Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (August 1 - March 31).
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form.
- CBC and comprehensive metabolic panel required for sterile processing techs (not applicable here).
Facility & Work Environment
- Facility is an 11-bed free-standing Emergency Room with X-ray and CT capabilities.
- One multimodality tech per 12-hour shift.
- Charting system: Epic.
- Parking: Free.
- Dress code: Black pants and teal top.
- Local radius for travel: 60 miles.
- Locals may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Attendance policy: More than two missed shifts without valid documentation during a 13-week contract may lead to contract review or cancellation.
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams.
Additional Notes
- Radiation badge processing may take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start clinical duties without it.
- Facility requires submission of all required documents at time of application.
- Orientation modules must be completed before starting; failure to complete results in being sent home.
- Fit testing for respirators will be done onsite during orientation.
- All certifications must be valid beyond 30 days from start date; expiring certifications must be renewed prior to start.
- Employment history verification required for last 3 clinical employers.
- Must comply with all facility-specific policies and procedures.
