Description
Physical Therapist - Inpatient Rehab
Location: Rio Rancho, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (minimum 10 weeks for new contracts and extensions)
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week (8 hours/day, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
- Schedule Options: Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Saturday
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts per month
- Caseload: Approximately 8 cases per day
- Patient Population: Adults, adolescents, geriatrics
- Types of Cases: Includes falls, stroke (CVA), trauma, pneumonia, alcohol withdrawal, total knee and hip arthroplasty (TKA, THA), open reduction internal fixation (ORIF), orthopedic conditions, pulmonary embolism, sepsis, urinary tract infections, respiratory failure, liver and kidney failure, wounds
- Unit Focus: Total joint patients with same-day discharge; last evaluations start at 5:00 PM
- Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
- Local Candidates: Not accepted within 100 miles radius
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week; facility may call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Time off greater than 7 days requires approval
- Break Requirement: 6-month break required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of travel work
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in New Mexico
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience in an inpatient setting
Skills & Competencies
- Acute care and rehabilitation experience including:
- Outpatient clinic, rehabilitation hospital, skilled nursing facility (SNF) settings
- Body mechanics, cervicalgia, low back pain
- Post-operative care for cervical, shoulder, and spinal surgeries
- Spinal conditions, total hip and knee replacements
- Cognitive disorders, Parkinson’s disease, post-stroke rehabilitation
- Spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury
- Home exercise program development and patient/family education
Facility & Work Environment
- Community-based hospital with Level III Trauma Center and Level I Teaching status
- Total staffed beds: 65 inpatient, 12 ICU
- Charting system: Cerner
- Scrub color: Black pants and red shirt
- Free parking
Additional Notes
- On-call shifts are not required
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
- New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks in length
- Candidates must complete facility-specific orientation and safety acknowledgments
- Fingerprinting required within 10 days of orientation; candidates responsible for fingerprint fee (may request agency reimbursement)
