Cath Lab Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Bristol, Tennessee


Position Details

  • Job Title: Cath Lab Registered Nurse
  • Location: Bristol, Tennessee
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Call Requirement: 12-14 call shifts every 6 weeks
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Work Settings: Diagnostic Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab
  • Floating: Required to float to a nearby facility when needed
  • Schedule Notes:
    • Rotating holidays awareness required
    • General orientation includes 16 hours of non-billable training, starting on Sundays (online CBLs)
    • Hospital may cancel/call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
    • Additional overtime shifts may be flexed based on census/resource needs without penalty

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
  • Minimum 5 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • Experience in Charge roles
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care in Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath Labs
  • Participate actively in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical duties

Orientation & Compliance

  • Orientation includes online and in-person components totaling 16 hours
  • Must complete compliance documents by orientation deadline
  • Photo for badge required within 48 hours of contract signing (neutral background, no filters, no visible facial piercings/tattoos)
  • Must complete facility-specific forms including respirator medical evaluation and other health and safety acknowledgments

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required
  • Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required for those licensed or working in Tennessee
  • Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug test within 14 days of start (instant test acceptable as placeholder)
  • Immunizations and titers required or documentation of immunity for:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31) with facility-specific documentation and approval
  • Respirator fit testing completed onsite; must comply with CDC facial hair guidelines for respirator use

Additional Notes

  • References: Minimum 2 preferred, 3 ideal
  • Skills checklist required
  • Must review and comply with facility dress code, uniform guidelines, smoking/tobacco use policies, contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statements, and influenza policies
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start (not annually)

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs with prior travel contract experience seeking a 13-week travel assignment in Tennessee with day shifts and call responsibilities.
