Registered Nurse – PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Locals not accepted; first-time travelers accepted
- Shift options include 3x12 or 4x12 shifts plus holidays
- Indiana RN license and certifications must be current and in hand before submission
- Note: Effective 11/30/24, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at these facilities except for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (including ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 1 year of recent Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks within 90 days including:
- 7-year residential/work history
- SSN trace, county, state, nationwide criminal checks
- National sex offender registry
- FACIS Level III
- Education verification (may be pending at start if previously cleared)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Official transcript or diploma (clear copy) showing degree and graduation date (may be pending at start)
- Online license verification within 30 days before start, including expiration and disciplinary status
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators) – on-site fit testing only as last resort and with approval
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (no instant tests)
- Immunizations and titers:
- TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-SPOT) within 1 year; if positive, chest x-ray within 2 years required
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted; history of disease not accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30–3/31); no declinations accepted
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Color blindness exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
- Completion of facility-specific compliance and orientation documents prior to start (time sensitive)

- Prior travel experience is not required
- Locals are not accepted for this position
- Candidates must complete all required certifications and documentation before start
- Some certifications and requirements may vary by unit; verify with recruiter or facility as needed
