Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry

Location: Abingdon, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:30–7:00)
Hours per Week: 36 hours

Job Details

• Patient ratio: 1:7 only (substitutes if pre-closed)
• Schedule: 36 hours on / 36 hours off (rotating weekends and holidays)
• No on-call required
• Floating between units required
• Traveler’s permanent residence must be at least 100 miles from the hospital’s service area
• General orientation includes 16 hours of non-billable time, starting Sundays with online compliance training
• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional shifts beyond the commitment are overtime and may be flexed based on census/resource needs
• Expected to actively participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Orientation & Compliance

• Orientation includes online compliance training and hospital-specific safety manual acknowledgement
• Photo for badge must meet strict guidelines (neutral background, no filters, no visible facial piercings/tattoos, etc.) and be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing
• Completion of facility-specific forms and policies (dress code, smoking/tobacco use, contaminated sharps exposure, influenza policy, respirator medical clearance) required within specified timeframes
• Respirator medical evaluation questionnaire must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
