Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech

Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Perform delegated duties to ensure a safe OR environment, proper equipment function, and patient safety during operative procedures.
  • Apply expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and related technologies.
  • Manage stressful or unusual situations positively and collaboratively.
  • Work primarily in Cardiac Operating Room (CVOR) with floating to ambulatory sites as needed.
  • Cardiac call required.

Schedule

  • Day shift, 4x10 hour shifts (6:45 AM – 5:15 PM)
  • Variable days, including floating assignments

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a Surgical Technology program.
  • Certification as NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • CPR certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as a CVOR Technologist, preferably within the last year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proficiency in perioperative clinical skills and sterile technique.
  • Perform scrub role effectively in surgical specialties.
  • Provide patient comfort, safety, privacy, and respect in the perioperative setting.
  • Maintain working knowledge of surgical equipment, instrumentation, and supplies.
  • Respond appropriately in emergency situations, including CPR and code responses.
  • Manage time efficiently to complete caseloads and OR turnovers within established timelines.

Physical Demands

  • Standing up to 10 hours per day on various surfaces.
  • Sitting intermittently up to 8 hours per day.
  • Walking intermittently up to 8 hours per day.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and fine motor skills required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds intermittently.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day.
  • Background check within 6 months prior to start, including education and work history verification.
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel with methamphetamines listed, within 3 months prior to start.
  • Required immunizations or signed declinations: Tdap, MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu seasonal vaccine (or declination).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months prior to start.
  • Completion of facility-specific policies including professional appearance and code of conduct.
  • Completion of required training modules prior to start (non-RN candidates).
  • References: Two manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months required.

Additional Notes

  • Floating to ambulatory sites may be required.
  • Must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date.
  • Facility requires adherence to core competencies including accountability, collaboration, communication, diversity, integrity, respect, service orientation, and teamwork.
