Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Bridgeport, Connecticut
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Schedule: Will work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Unit: Oncology with float to other MedSurg units as needed
- Facility Type: Short term acute care hospital, Level II Trauma Center
- Charting System: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Hematology/Oncology experience, with experience within the last year
- Chemotherapy certification (CHEMO)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Compliance and Training Requirements
Candidates must complete and provide attestations for the following mandatory trainings and modules (some may be completed via Docusign):

- CAUTI Education Training (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health)
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU)
- Stroke Education (except Pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI Prevention for Adult and Pediatric Training
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
- Pyxis ES MedStation Modules
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain hospitals)
- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health; annual update required)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
- eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
- Chaperone Policy Training (required if gap >6 months or module updated)
- Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)
Health and Background Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test within 12 months of start (annual update required; clean shaven required for fit testing)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination highly preferred for Pediatric specialties, Labor and Delivery, Postpartum (Tdap declination acceptable)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray documentation (TB questionnaire required annually)
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or declination within 1 year)
- Varicella (vaccines, positive titer, or physician documented history)
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start (rapid accepted)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (09/01 - 03/31)
- COVID vaccination series preferred
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 12 months, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Sex Offender Search
- Education Verification (including Foreign Equivalency for international candidates)
- Employment History: 7 years with no gaps greater than 90 days; verification required
- References per standard requirements

- Attestation of Prior Radiation Exposure required if applicable to certain units (not typically Oncology)
This position is ideal for experienced Oncology RNs with required chemo certification and EPIC proficiency, seeking a travel contract in a Level II Trauma short-term acute care hospital setting.
