Job Opportunity: MICU Registered Nurse

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Travel Radius: Must live more than 75 miles from the facility (no locals accepted)
First Time Travelers: Accepted

Unit & Patient Population

• 16-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
• Patient conditions include sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, pre-VAD workups, alcohol withdrawal, overdose, multi-organ failure, post cardiac arrest with targeted temperature management, respiratory failure/shock, CRRT, EKOS, IABP, ECMO, Impella
• Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:2, occasionally 1:1 based on acuity

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Minimum of 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Requirements

• Must complete facility-specific onboarding documents and attestations prior to start
• References: Two professional references within the last 3 years required (for direct hire candidates)
• Employment verification: At least two past employments verified
• Fingerprinting and additional background checks may be required if working in Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Home Health Aide, or Long-Term Care units (not typical for MICU)

• This position does not accept local candidates; must be over 75 miles away from the facility
• First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
• Night shift with every other weekend coverage required
• High acuity patient care requiring strong critical care skills and familiarity with advanced life support devices and therapies
