Description

Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech

Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hour days (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
Guaranteed Hours: 70 hours per 2 weeks (may be called off for 1 ten-hour shift per 2 weeks)
Start Date: ASAP


Job Description

  • Work primarily in the Cardiac Cath Lab with exposure to:
    • Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath procedures
    • STEMI, IABP, Impella, Tandem Heart, Structural Heart procedures (PFO, TAVR, Mitral Clip)
    • Interventional Radiology including lines, drains, embolizations, fistulas, stroke thrombectomy
    • Neurointervention and CRM device implants
  • May float within scope to Interventional Radiology (IR) and Electrophysiology (EP) units
  • On-call requirement: 1 shift per week plus every 4th weekend on call
  • Weekend requirement: Some Saturdays included as part of regular 4 shifts/week schedule
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility (no locals accepted)

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year
  • Experience in monitoring

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • ARRT (R) or RCIS certification required for Cath Lab Tech role

Scheduling & Time Off

  • Time off requests approved individually; only 1 time off request allowed per 13-week assignment
  • Floating to other units within scope may be required to meet facility needs

Candidate Requirements

  • Must have a government-issued photo ID and Social Security card as applicable
  • Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
  • Drug screen (9 panel) within 12 months of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TDAP within 10 years (declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (positive titer and vaccine series required for Alaska placements)
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
    • COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
  • Respirator medical clearance required annually for travel candidates
  • Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (updated annually)
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment

Additional Compliance & Training

  • Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
  • Facility-specific float policy acknowledgment required
  • On-call and weekend shifts required as part of schedule
  • Candidates must complete Epic training modules as assigned

  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Pending licenses are not accepted
  • Locals (within 50 miles) are not eligible
  • Background checks and other verifications must meet facility and state-specific requirements
  • Candidates may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
