Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse

Location: Abilene, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 40


Job Description

  • Position in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at an outpatient surgery center
  • Start date strongly needed: June 15
  • No call, no weekends, no holidays
  • Limited consecutive weekday return-to-office (RTO) days (2-3 days max)
  • Pediatric experience strongly preferred

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in PreOp / PACU - Post Anesthesia Care
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (PACU)
  • Minimum years of experience: Not explicitly stated; pediatric experience strongly preferred

Compliance and Background Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • E-Verify or attestation required
  • 7-year background check required within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification (highest level) required; transcript or diploma acceptable
  • Texas-specific checks: DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry within 30 days of start
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 10 business days prior to start; facility conducts additional drug screen on arrival (positive results cause cancellation)
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S) required within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers required within 72 hours of contract signing or as noted:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (PPD or QGold/Tspot)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31), religious or medical exemptions accepted

Additional Notes

  • Orientation modules take approximately 3-4 hours
  • Parking available at no cost during orientation and employment
  • Onsite fit mask testing option available for a fee
  • Pass/fail testing for telemetry nurses includes two attempts, with educator support after first failure
