Description
Perfusionist Travel/Contract Position
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet recognized
- Total staffed beds: 562
- Scrub color provided
- Charting system: Cerner
- Parking permit required, no cost
Required Qualifications
- Valid Perfusionist license in Illinois
- Minimum 4 years of perfusionist experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid/current US Driver’s License or US ID card
- Background checks within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
- SSN Trace, Counties, States, National Criminal, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
- High School or College Diploma required for Perfusionist
- Education verification (initial degree verification required; unofficial or official transcripts accepted if pending)
- Fingerprinting through Illinois Health Care Worker Registry (must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start)
- Illinois-specific searches within 30 days of start:
- Department of Corrections Inmate Search
- Most Wanted Search (must show all 20 wanted fugitives)
- State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry Search
- Competency exam required for all clinical candidates
- Photo for badge (color, mid-shoulders up, plain background) due within one week of signing contract
- Code of Conduct review and signature within 7 days of contract signing
- Parking permit form to be completed within 7 days of contract signing (if applicable)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within one year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, DC, APN, FNP, or DO, confirming good physical and mental health and ability to perform job functions without restrictions
- Fit mask test required (3M 1860 small/regular, 1870, or 1870+ masks acceptable); PAPR users exempt from fit test
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year of start; TB questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations or documented immunity required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, phencyclidine, propoxyphene)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
Additional Information
- Guaranteed hours subject to client call-offs up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay; on-call shifts count as called-off shifts
- Scrubs provided by facility
- Parking permit required but no cost to employee

- Two professional references required for all direct travel, allied, per diem, and acute care candidates
- Skills checklist required for all clinical and allied candidates
This position is suitable for perfusionists with at least 4 years of experience who are open to travel assignments and weekend/on-call rotations. First-time travel perfusionists are accepted.
