Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Paramus, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Hours per week: 36

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Jersey
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (American Heart Association)
    • BLS (American Heart Association)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
    • AWHONN Intermediate or NCC C-EFM
  • Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • COVID-19: Proof of completed initial vaccine series and booster required; no exemptions or declinations accepted
  • Must be able to work every other weekend; no holiday time off approved

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background Check: 7-year history including national and state criminal, sex offender, OIG sanction, SAM.gov, and OFAC searches; must be completed within 6 months of start
  • Employment Verification: 7 years of work history verified prior to start; no pending verifications allowed
  • Education Verification: Third-party verification of highest level of education required; diploma may be used as placeholder if verification is pending
  • References: Two professional references required
    • One supervisory reference from within the last 12 months
    • One professional reference from within the last 3 years (not necessarily supervisory)
  • Physical Exam: Completed within 72 hours of contract signing; must state candidate is in good health and able to perform job duties
  • Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; rapid tests not accepted
  • Immunizations and Titers (all required within 72 hours of contract signing):
    • Flu vaccine (mandatory; no religious or medical exemptions)
    • COVID-19 vaccine and booster (mandatory)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
    • Varicella – proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or declination
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred, not required)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
  • Fit Mask Testing: Annual N95 fit test required within 1 year of start; must pass with approved mask models
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology exam (80% passing score, updated annually)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (80% passing score, updated annually; some units exempt)
    • Core Competency Exams Parts I, II, and III (80% passing score, updated annually) covering patient safety, HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, ethics, and more
    • Pass/Fail Telemetry Competency testing onsite (one attempt; failure results in contract cancellation)
    • ECG Foundations exam (Relias) required to prepare for onsite pass/fail test (exemptions apply for certain units)
    • Onsite medication exam required for all RNs

Additional Notes

  • Local candidates (within 75 miles) receive a different rate (not disclosed here)
  • No holiday time off will be approved during the contract
  • Candidates must submit a COVID vaccine card including booster with application
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required prior to start
