Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract
Location: Massena, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 48
Job Details
- Weekend Coverage: Every Other Weekend (EOW)
- Unit does not accept first-time travelers
- Local candidates must live more than 50 miles away
- Patient Diagnoses commonly seen: COPD, Pneumonia, Non-specific abdominal pain, Cellulitis, Chest pain rule out
- Nurse-to-patient Ratios:
- Days: 1:6
- Nights: 1:7
- Weekends: 1:8
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in New York
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- 7-year criminal background check including all aliases, national/state/county checks, social security address check, sex offender registry, education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification for nursing degree (official registrar verification required)
- Online verification of state nursing license and certifications within 30 days of start
- Harassment prevention training certificate (New York state requirement, annual)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required by profession
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
- Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background)
- Review of patient confidentiality, sexual harassment prevention, patient experience training, and compliance attestations prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific mask types required; PAPR exemption process available if fit test failed)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years (Td not accepted)
- Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD) within 1 year; if positive, negative chest X-ray within 10 years and annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive, completed series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug screening required within 30 days of start (specific panels and timing based on booking date)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (documentation deadline December 3)
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
- 7-year work history verification (Aya attestation letter accepted as last resort)
- Employment application, skills checklist (updated annually), and 2 professional references required
Additional Notes
- Scrubs: Any nursing uniform color accepted
- Prior travel experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers (implies prior travel experience required)
- Candidates must complete all health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract (if booked within 30 days of start)
- Strict compliance with expiration dates on health documents; documents expiring during the contract must be renewed prior to or during assignment to avoid removal from the floor
This position is ideal for experienced MS/Telemetry RNs with prior travel assignments who are comfortable managing complex patients and working in a fast-paced hospital environment.
