Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Shift: Night shift, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (8:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Call Requirement: One 10-hour shift per month on a Saturday or Sunday (7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM); no weekday call
- Request Time Off (RTO): Maximum 5 days total, no more than 2 consecutive; no holiday RTO; no RTO day before or after a holiday; no RTO on weekends
- Floating: Mandatory floating within scope of practice as needed by the facility
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, with CVOR experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Strong scrub skills with experience in Orthopedics and Trauma
- Ortho Trauma experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Scrub experience in additional surgical areas beyond core specialties

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually; chest x-ray if history of positive TB
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Tdap within 10 years or signed declination
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, rubella (boosters if low titer)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (booster if low titer)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – May 4)
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year; medical or religious exemptions require approval for onsite PAPR use
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams required within 12 months of start (effective for starts on/after specified dates)
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit (confirm per assignment)
- NIH Stroke Certification required for RNs in certain specialties (updated annually)
Additional Notes
- This is a mandatory float facility; all staff must float as needed within their scope
- Local candidates are preferred and must reside within 75 miles of the facility
- No block scheduling for shifts
