Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (OR)
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 7:15)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in OR nursing
  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekend shifts as scheduled by the department
  • On-Call Requirement: 1-2 weekdays per week and 2 weekends per 13 weeks
  • Floating: Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required within scope
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Accepted within local radius
  • Pending License: Accepted
  • Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days
  • Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 3 shifts per 13 weeks (cancelled shifts must be full shift length)
  • Special Requirements: Must have general OR and trauma experience

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Trauma nursing experience

Compliance and Background Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG quarterly checks
    • Education verification of highest nursing degree (no pending at start)
    • State-specific searches and registries as applicable
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Drug testing within 1 year, including specific drug panels, must remain valid throughout assignment
    • Fit mask testing (N95) required annually; must accommodate facial hair requirements
    • Immunizations and titers:
      • Tdap vaccine or declination required
      • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
      • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
      • Hepatitis B declination required (not mandatory vaccine)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept-April)
  • Facility-Specific Documents:
    • HIPAA Acknowledgement, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Confidentiality Form, Regulatory Compliance Education (annual)
    • Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
    • Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, and Dress Code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
    • Orientation modules required for RNs, completed through online platform before start
  • Additional:
    • Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) registration required for certain clinical roles
    • Fingerprinting required for assignments involving long-term care or rehab units in Illinois

Additional Notes

  • Regular floating between units and departments may be required to meet facility needs.
  • Candidates must be prepared for rotating weekend and on-call shifts as specified.
  • Pending licenses are accepted but must be resolved timely.
  • First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.

This position offers a structured night shift schedule in a high-acuity OR setting with trauma experience preferred. Compliance with extensive background, health, and certification requirements is mandatory to ensure patient safety and regulatory adherence.
