Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 9 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Call Requirements:

• One weekday call per week
• Weekend call Friday through Sunday once a month
  Patient Ratio: 1:1

Job Summary

• Specialty: Vascular OR Registered Nurse
• Must independently perform endovascular cases without assistance from cath lab team
• First-time travelers accepted
• Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility
• Charting experience required with EPIC system

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIHSS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with vascular procedures and vascular surgery
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, national sex offender registry, and education verification
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and updated monthly
• Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
• Medication/pharmacology competency exams as required
• Color blindness testing required (one-time)
• Competency exams as required by specialty

Health & Immunization Requirements

Candidates must complete all health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of contract signing:

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year, with acceptable mask types specified; PAPR allowed if failed
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire accepted in lieu of annual renewal
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start, covering multiple substances
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start (not annual)
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

• Employment application and skills checklist required annually
• Work history verification of at least two past employments required
• Two professional references within 3 years required (for direct hire candidates)
• Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and parking pass form required

• Locals must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify
• First-time travel nurses are accepted for this assignment
• Prior travel experience is not required for this position
