Description
ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Saint Joseph, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Schedule: Every 3rd weekend on a 6-week schedule cycle
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Float: Float to other units as needed
- Unit Population: Diverse patient population; excludes burns, pediatrics, transplants, and ECMO patients
- Scrubs: Any color and brand allowed
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, with ICU experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

- Education Verification: Official transcript or diploma with graduation date
- State-Specific Search: Missouri EDL Search within 30 days of start
- License Verification: Primary source verification within 30 days of start
- Professional References: 2 professional references within last 3 years
- Employment Application & Work History Verification: Required

Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Physician statement within last 12 months (not annually required)
- Fit Mask Testing: Completed onsite at orientation
- TB Screening: Negative PPD, Q-Gold, or T-SPOT within 1 year; if positive, chest x-ray within 6 months and annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines, positive titer, or declination accepted)
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series, titer, or declination accepted)
- Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or declination accepted)
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season or agency-approved medical/religious exemption (mask required if exempt)
- Drug Screening: Within 30 days of start; includes multiple drug panels
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Orientation: Agency Nurse Orientation quiz with minimum 84% score prior to start
- Confidentiality & Code of Conduct: Must review and sign
- AVADE Training: Onsite AVADE training required if extending past initial contract; includes online pre-work and in-person skills validation
- Documentation: Must complete demographic form prior to start
Additional Notes
- Return-to-Office (RTO) limit: 2 requests per contract
- ICU unit has a strict one-attempt policy for the dysrhythmia exam
- TNCC certification is available onsite for candidates (cost approx. $175)
- No burn, pediatric, transplant, or ECMO patients on this unit
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with prior travel contract experience seeking a 13-week assignment on day shifts in a diverse ICU setting.
