Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Cath Lab)
- Shift: Rotating 4x10 hour shifts (07:00-17:30 early, 07:00-17:30 late, 10:00-20:30 close as needed)
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-Call: Rotating call including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Floating: Yes, within service line as needed
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (home address must be at least 75 miles from facility)
- Pending License: Accepted
- Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Patient Diagnoses & Procedures
- Common diagnoses: AMI, Chest pain, Heart failure, NSTEMI, Aortic Stenosis, V-Tach, Endocarditis, Afib, Peripheral vascular disease, Sick sinus syndrome
- Work environment includes diagnostic and interventional PCI procedures
- Use of specialized equipment such as Impella and IABP
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide and nationwide checks)
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest nursing degree
- NURSYS verification for Missouri licenses
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive drug panel
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95 respirators) with annual renewal
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
- Annual HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policy reviews
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approximately 16 hours) through online training platform
- Unit-specific competency exams including medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, and skills checklists
- References: Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
Additional Information
- Parking: Monthly passes available for a fee; free parking for straight night shifts in employee lots
- Must adhere to facility policies including vehicle registration for day shifts
- Candidates must be prepared for rotating call schedules and floating within the service line
- No block scheduling accommodations available
This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs seeking a travel contract with exposure to a high-acuity, trauma-level acute care environment. First-time travelers are welcome.
