Description
Registered Nurse – CVPICU (Pediatric ICU / Cardiovascular)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel / Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- Day/Evening shifts, 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required
- Approximately 48 hours per week
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a high acuity Pediatric ICU with cardiovascular focus
- Strong Pediatric ICU experience required
- At least 1 year of cardiovascular (CV) experience required
- EPIC electronic health record experience required
- Telemetry test must be passed prior to start
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a high acuity hospital setting
- At least 1 year of recent Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience
- Experience working with Pediatric patients
- Strong Level II experience
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- PALS issued by American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
- Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID Form required
- Monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems after hire
- Education verification as applicable
- Drug screening required per Vaya standard (clinical candidates)
- Physical exam recommended (not facility required)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Proof of Tdap vaccination (one dose from adulthood)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
- Annual TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers; medical or religious exemptions allowed with facility approval
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer; medical or religious exemptions allowed with facility approval
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or documented declination form
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Other vaccines or declinations as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for certain departments)
Orientation & Training
- Signed acknowledgment of Joint Commission Safety Manual annually
- Completion of medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Facility-specific Pediatric Telemetry Test with strict passing criteria (80% overall, 100% lethal rhythms) and remediation process if needed
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers allowed if meeting experience requirements
- Candidates with strong Level II experience may be considered
- Photo for badge must meet facility specifications (passport-style, no selfies, solid background)
- Various facility-specific exemption and waiver forms may be required for vaccines
