Description
Job Opportunity: Perfusionist
Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM)
- Float: Yes, may float to a connected cancer center for specialized cases (Hipec Cases)
- Weekends: Not required
- On-call: Not required
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Pending State License: Accepted (license processing takes about 1-3 weeks)
- Charting Systems: EPIC and Pyxis
- Scrubs: Provided
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year of perfusionist experience
- Experience in Level I Trauma, Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR), and general Operating Room (OR) settings
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Highly preferred
- Must hold a valid Perfusionist license for New Jersey or be able to obtain one quickly (pending license accepted)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal Background Check: Required within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
- Drug Screen: Negative 10-panel urine drug screen within 30 days of start
- Health Screenings:
- Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
- Required immunizations and titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Annual influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
- Respirator Medical Clearance and Fit Test: Required prior to start and annually; on-site fit testing mandatory
- Latex Allergy Screening: Required if job tasks involve glove use
- Color Blind Exam: Required if job tasks require color discrimination
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Must complete competency exams (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, IV therapy/infusion) within 72 hours of signing
- Pass/fail testing policies apply; candidates have up to 3 attempts with remediation after the first failure
- Medication and pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months of start
Documentation & Verification
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
- Work history verification for at least 1 year prior to start (New Jersey state requirement)
- Two professional references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Facility-specific floating policy acknowledgment required
Additional Notes
- Time off requests must be submitted and approved before offer
- Travelers may be required to float to specialized units connected by pedestrian bridge
- First-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience is not required
- Must comply with all facility-specific education and attestation requirements prior to start
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Perfusionist license in New Jersey
- Minimum 1 year of perfusionist experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Experience working with Level I Trauma patients
- Experience as a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technologist
