Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse

Location: Attleboro, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (options: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM or 9:00 AM–5:30 PM)
  • Unit: 12 beds, average daily census 32 patients
  • Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
  • Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 6 patients
  • Patient Diagnoses: Hematology and oncology, asthma/allergy, GI, rheumatology, multiple sclerosis, and other non-oncology conditions
  • Special Procedures: Port accessing, IV placement
  • Medication System: Omnicell
  • Documentation Systems: Cerner and IntelliDose
  • Orientation: 3-4 shifts with a preceptor
  • Scrubs: Not provided; any color allowed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
  • Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ONCC or ONS certification
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certificate
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Standard 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender registry
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
    • Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all travelers in MA
    • Statewide CORI release and clearance required
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
    • N95 fit test within last 6 months (specific approved masks) or proof of failed fit if PAPR needed
    • Drug screen within 30 days prior to start (minimum 9-panel)
    • Immunizations and titers:
      • Tdap (one dose after age 18, then Td every 10 years)
      • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (immune titer or 2 vaccines, no declinations accepted)
      • Hepatitis B (immune titer with numerical value or signed declination accepted)
      • Varicella (immune titer or 2 vaccines, no declinations accepted)
      • Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (Sept–April); medical/religious exemptions considered case-by-case
      • COVID-19 vaccine required; exemptions only with signed medical or religious documentation
  • Facility Specific Documents:
    • Badge photo (head and shoulders, plain background) required 2 weeks prior to start
    • Compliance checklist, latex allergy questionnaire, personal information forms required prior to start
    • COVID-19 exemption forms if applicable

Additional Information

  • Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome
  • Facility does not provide scrubs
  • Facility requires completed background checks and clearances before start; no pending background checks allowed
  • Annual TB testing required only for ICU and ER candidates (not applicable here)

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized oncology setting with a supportive orientation and a manageable patient ratio. Candidates must meet all licensure, certification, health, and compliance requirements to be considered.
