Job Opportunity: Acute Care Float Nurse
Location: Mountain Home, Arkansas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide direct patient care and leadership within the nursing team.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to promote evidence-based care and a healing culture.
- Float between ER hold, overflow units, adult and geriatric psychiatric, and inpatient rehab units.
Work Schedule
- Day shift: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Will consider 36 or 48 hours per week
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
- Stepdown experience is a must; critical care experience preferred.
- Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred.
Education & Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arkansas or Compact State license in good standing.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and other certifications may be required as applicable (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) depending on assignment specifics.
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID and Social Security card required.
- Background check: 7-year history within 6 months of start; annual updates required for direct candidates.
- E-Verify or attestation required.
- Various state and federal screenings including EPLS, HHS/OIG, sex offender, and state-specific criminal history checks required within 30 days of start.
- Employment application, resume, and work history verification (past 2 years) required.
- Two professional references required within 3 years (preferably within 2 years).
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray required within 1 year; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination accepted)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Seasonal influenza vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season (October 1 – March 31).
- COVID-19 vaccination documentation required; exemptions or declinations must be communicated.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen required within 30 days of start; instant tests not accepted.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific documents and orientation prior to start.
- Compliance with personal appearance and dress code policies.
- Safety sensitive position under Arkansas Act 593 regarding medical marijuana.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arkansas.
- Minimum of 2 years of float nursing experience, with float experience within the last year.
- Stepdown nursing experience required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
