Description
Job Opportunity: CT Tech
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Perform high-quality CT examinations on patients ranging from newborn to geriatric under general supervision.
- Work schedule: Friday through Sunday, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM).
- On-call rotation Monday through Thursday evenings (5 PM – 6 AM), approximately every 4-5 weeks.
- No floating between service lines or to sister facilities.
- Cases include inpatient, outpatient (Friday only), ER, and scheduled interventional cases (Friday only).
- Required skills: IV start, contrast administration, biopsies, and use of PACS system.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CT Technologist license in South Carolina.
- Minimum 1 year of CT Technologist experience within the last year.
- ARRT (CT) certification.
- South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Ability to start IVs.
- Experience performing biopsies.
Certifications & Training
- BLS (AHA) required.
- Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification, and others may be required depending on unit assignment (verify with recruiter).
- Competency exams and color blindness testing required prior to start.
- Facility-specific orientation modules and job description acknowledgment required before starting.
- COVID vaccination is highly preferred; if declined, a vaccination declination form must be completed.
- Flu vaccination required during flu season or approved medical/religious exemption.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands.
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start; if positive, additional documentation required.
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start.
- Respirator medical clearance required annually for patient-facing roles.
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and Tdap.
- Fit testing for masks will be done onsite during orientation.
Background & Documentation
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
- Employment verification for last 3 clinical employers.
- Education verification required; diploma or transcripts may be accepted as placeholder.
- OFAC, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific exclusion checks required.
- Clear, passport-style photo required for badge (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire).
Additional Information
- Facility is a Level III Trauma, Acute Care Hospital with 286 staffed beds.
- Charting system: Epic.
- Parking is free.
- Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis.
- Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November).
- Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks.
Important Notes
- Radiation badge processing can take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start patient care without it.
- All required documents and certifications must be current and valid at the time of start.
- Orientation modules must be completed on a computer or laptop prior to arrival; incomplete modules will delay start.
- Travelers must upload vaccination and flu documentation into the facility’s system as instructed.
This position is ideal for CT Technologists with at least 1 year of experience seeking a travel contract with a reputable acute care hospital in South Carolina.
