Description

Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse - Contract

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide care for patients pre-operation, and during Phase I and Phase II recovery after surgery.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and critical care skills to monitor incision sites, body temperature, and other indicators of patient stability or complications.
  • Work in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU).
  • Use equipment such as Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCD's, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Hawaii.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience in Emergency Department (ED) and/or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) settings.

Schedule

  • Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours.
  • Work hours may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • No guarantee of specific hours or shift preference.
  • On-call shifts required 0-3 times per month (including 8-hour nights and 24-hour weekend/holiday coverage).

Additional Information

  • Must arrive the Thursday before the start date for employee health appointment on Friday.
  • Flu vaccination can be administered during employee health clearance appointment.
