Job Opportunity: Special Procedures Radiology Technologist
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Four 10-hour day shifts per week (7:30 AM – 6:00 PM)
- On-Call: Flexible call schedule, approximately 8 calls per month; holiday call may be required
- Work Environment: High-acuity hybrid OR setting; must work well under pressure and independently
- Charting System: EPIC
- No Scrubbing Required
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Radiology/Cardiology specialty
- Hybrid OR experience required
- Extensive endovascular procedure experience including:
- FEVAR/PMEG, EVAR, TEVAR, AAA/TAA
- Angiograms, Declots, Lysis, Stenting, Embolization, TAVRs
- At least 1 year of experience with Zeego and Pheno imaging systems
- Experience with Penumbra, AngioJet, Shockwave, IVUS, Jet Stream, Medrad equipment
- Knowledge of PACS, Siemens Hybrid vascular features & troubleshooting (Pheno/Zeego), Siemens Portable C-Arm functions (digital subtraction, road mapping, measurements)
- Familiarity with vascular supplies (balloons, diagnostic catheters, wires, sheaths, etc.)
- EPIC charting experience is necessary
Required Certifications & Licenses
- ARRT certification (appropriate for Radiology Technologist)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC accepted)
- Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
- Must have an active, unencumbered state license appropriate for Radiology Technologist in South Carolina (primary source verification required)
Additional Requirements
- Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required
- Completion of annual background checks including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, and state-specific searches
- Education verification required (diploma or transcripts preferred as placeholder)
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Annual physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
- Required immunizations and titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination series)
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccination series)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest x-ray if prior positive
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
- Clear, passport-style photo for badge required before start
- Proof of 2 clinical references and complete employment application with no unaccounted gaps
- Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Vascular Interventional Technologist
- Vascular Interventional Technologist experience within the last year
- Experience as a Special Procedures Technologist
- ARRT certification
- BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted)
- Experience with EPIC charting system
Important Notes
- First-time travelers are not preferred for this assignment
- Local radius rule: 60 miles
- Facility may call off traveler for 1 shift per 2-week pay period
- During hurricane season (June-November), employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; candidates should consider this before accepting assignment
- Parking permit required with a $20 registration fee for garage use (additional fees may apply for other parking locations)
This position is ideal for experienced Radiology Technologists with hybrid OR and advanced endovascular procedure expertise seeking a travel contract in a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital environment.
