Perfusionist Travel/Contract Job in Greenville, South Carolina


Job Details

  • Position: Perfusionist
  • Location: Greenville, South Carolina
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (5x8s)
  • Shift Hours: Approximately 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (may vary based on need)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Hours per Week: 40 hours

Job Description

  • Must work 5 days per week with ability to independently assist in ECMO cannulation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced emergent cardiac cases.
  • ECMO transport experience is required.
  • Must have experience with Spectrum pumps (facility recently transitioned to these).
  • Experience with Terumo system 1, Quest MPS 2/3 Cardioplegia, ISTAT, Centrimag, Impella 5.5, Bellmont Hyperthermia Kit, CardioHelp, Angiovac, and CardioQuip HC is requested.
  • Scrubs are provided by the unit.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Perfusionist, including experience within the last year.
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment as a Perfusionist.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Experience working with adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Licensure

  • Must hold a valid Perfusionist license appropriate for South Carolina.
  • Driver’s license required immediately upon signing for computer access and must be carried while on duty.

Compliance and Background Requirements

  • Background check covering 7 years, completed within 12 months of start date.
  • E-Verify or attestation required.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter.
  • Fingerprinting required if applicable based on residency/work history.
  • Education verification of highest degree required.
  • OFAC sanctions list search required for new candidates.

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands.
  • Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually (5-panel minimum).
  • Immunizations and/or titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working in high-risk areas)
    • Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot within 90 days)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (second vaccine may be pending but must be completed within 28 days)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
    • Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (second vaccine may be pending but must be completed within 28 days)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required (not required for remote workers).
  • Respirator fit test will be completed onsite during orientation.

Orientation and Training

  • Completion of online modules within 72 hours of assignment (approximately 12 hours).
  • Pass/fail testing (medication and arrhythmia exams) required prior to orientation with two attempts allowed. Failure results in cancellation.
  • Annual competency exams and core training required, including universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA blood-borne pathogens, and TJC National Patient Safety Goals.

Additional Notes

  • Badge photo required prior to start (passport-style with specific background and no alterations).
  • Floating policy acknowledgment required.
  • Candidate must be prepared for a fast-paced, emergent cardiac environment with ECMO transport responsibilities.

This position is ideal for experienced Perfusionists with strong ECMO and cardiac OR skills who have prior travel contract experience and are comfortable with advanced perfusion equipment and emergent cases.
