Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Cath Lab)
- Shift: Rotating 4x10 hour shifts (07:00-17:30 early, 07:00-17:30 late, 10:00-20:30 close)
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-Call: Rotating call including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Floating: Yes, within service line as needed
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (home address must be at least 75 miles from facility)
- Pending License: Accepted
- Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab nursing experience (interventional scrub experience required)
- Experience in level 1 trauma and high volume/high acuity Cath Lab procedural area
- Ability to work as RN Circulator in diagnostic and interventional PCI environment
- Provide conscious sedation under direction of attending physician
- Cross-training likely to include hemodynamics monitoring tech role
Certifications & Licenses
- Registered Nurse license valid in Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification required
- Other certifications may be required based on unit specifics (e.g., TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification) but ACLS and BLS are mandatory for this role

- Peripheral Vascular Disease
- Sick Sinus Syndrome
Equipment & Documentation Systems
- Epic electronic health record system
- Use of Impella and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) devices
Additional Requirements
- Must complete various background checks including criminal, statewide, and federal exclusions
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be current throughout assignment
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (with specific timing requirements)
- Tdap vaccine or declination
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and compliance education annually
- Professional references required (two, preferably supervisors within last year)
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required and must be updated annually
Work Environment
- Short Term Acute Care facility with 1266 staffed beds
- Level 1 Trauma Center
- Teaching hospital environment
- Parking available with monthly passes (fees apply; no reimbursement)
- Strict adherence to facility policies including dress code, hand hygiene, fingernail policy, and confidentiality
Notes
- First-time travel nurses are accepted for this position
- Candidates must be willing to work rotating shifts and on-call as required
- Must be able to meet all compliance and credentialing requirements prior to start
- No local candidates accepted; must live at least 75 miles away from the facility
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
