Job Opportunity: RRT PICU
Location
- Portland, Oregon
Employment Type

- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Day shift, 3 shifts per week
- 12 hours per shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Total 36 hours per week
- No on-call required
Unit and Specialty
- Respiratory Therapy in an in-patient acute hospital setting
- PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) and NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) experience required
- Full spectrum of respiratory care services provided
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in Oregon
- Minimum 1.5 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
- Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA provider only)
- Experience working with Pediatric patients
- Experience working with Neonate patients
- Experience working with Infant patients
Preferred Experience
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system preferred
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (AHA/AAP only)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (AHA provider only)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA provider only)
Required Background and Screening
- Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day
- Background check within 6 months prior to start, including:
- Education and work history verification
- National sex offender search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel including methamphetamines within 3 months prior to start (laboratory-based, SAMHSA certified)
- Social Security verification conducted by background vendor
- References: Two manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months required (charge nurse references not accepted unless direct supervisor)
- Employment application must include at least 7 years of work history with city and state for each position
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, TSPOT, or QGOLD) within 12 months prior to start; TB questionnaire required for all candidates
- Immunity or vaccination (or signed declination) required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (full vaccine series or immune titer)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap preferred)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required annually by December 1st
- Physical exam required to meet Aya Healthcare standards (within 1 year of start)
- Fit testing for respiratory masks required within 1 year prior to start (must be completed through agency; onsite fit testing not available)
Competency and Training Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific compliance and orientation modules prior to start, including:
- Information Privacy and Security Essentials
- Integrity Foundations
- Harassment Prevention Fundamentals
- Additional modules for RNs and non-RN staff as applicable
- Medication override test provided for RNs (not required before start)
- Stroke CEUs required annually for certain units (not specified for this role)
- Competency exams with required passing scores (e.g., medication test, dysrhythmia/EKG for neuro stepdown RNs)
Facility Policies
- Professional appearance policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Candidate must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date (notify recruiter of any planned unavailability)
- Vaccine declination/waiver form must be signed if declining MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, or Tdap vaccines
- Respirator clearance required for fit testing if completed onsite
